Air National Guard Concert Featured Fabulous Talent

If you didn't get to attend the recent Air National Guard Band of the Smoky Mountains concert, then you missed one heck of an evening.  JACB, Inc. sponsored the Thursday, June 29, concert at University School of Jackson.  The free performance featured sets of patriotic, jazz, rock, and concert music that were nothing less than two-hours high-energy, fun, talented entertainment.   The stop in Jackson was one of many for the Air National Guard Band's two-week tour.

JACB's own Lori Nelson Reeves is a member of the Guard Band and performed with them on trumpet, french horn, and as a vocalist and back-up dancer.   (Her back-up vocals and dancing could rival The Supremes)!  Another highlight of the evening was when many of our JACB members got to join the Guard Band members on stage for the patriotic set -- the final performance of the evening.

The Air National Guard Band of the Smoky Mountains is located at McGhee Tyson Air Base near Knoxville, TN.  The band is the official musical ambassador for the Tennessee Air National Guard.  The mission of the band is to support military and civilian functions; to perform at activities involving Department of Defense community relations projects; and, to support local Air Force and Air National Guard recruiting.

The band has performed for the Air Force Thunderbirds, the Navy Blue Angels, numerous State of Tennessee Governors Inaugural Ceremonies, as well as civilian and military performances in 21 states, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

The ability to offer a wide variety of musical programming is a source of great pride for this premiere unit of the Tennessee Air National Guard.  Concerts typically include traditional concert band pieces, military marches, patriotic selections, jazz, rock and country western selections.

A Note from Our Concert Director...April 26, 2006

Dear JACB Musicians,
I wanted to thank and congratulate each of you on Monday night's performance.  It felt great to stand before you and listen to your music as we shared our talents with the audience.  I have received numerous testimonies of pleasant surprise and congratulations for the performances of both ensembles.  Thanks again for your talents, your patience,  and your support throughout this past year.  I am looking forward to our next season.
Take care,
Tom Grant
